This addition is the largest project ever undertaken by a single parish within the Omaha Archdiocese and facilitated additional growth at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, the largest parish in Nebraska. Comprising 56,000 SF, the building includes a new nave, day chapel, and church office designed to accommodate the needs of the parish for decades to come.
The worship space doubled in size to seat 1,400 and the owner was concerned that such a large space would feel sterile and unwelcoming. The design team utilized the warmth of wood to address this and created smaller-scale moments of interaction to make the experience welcoming, warm, and individualized.
Stunning features include tongue-in-groove wood ceilings, exposed wood trusses, hand-crafted Italian mosaic, custom stained-glass windows, and natural stone were key components. Specialty subcontractors at the local and international level were utilized to ensure precise installation and an impeccable attention to detail.
