The addition and renovation of St. Columbkille Catholic Church was completed in two phases. The first phase included renovations to the worship space and the addition of a day chapel. The existing chapel was converted into a sacristy and the flooring and lighting were replaced in the worship space. The addition of an elevator was the second phase of the project. Boyd Jones worked closely with the owner and architect to expedite construction in order to limit disturbance to the parishioners. This collaborative approach enabled our crews to complete the flooring replacement portion of Phase 1 ahead of schedule. We identified long-lead time items, clearly communicated challenges, and developed strategies to resolve them. The existing structure and interior walls were taken into consideration for the design and placement of the elevator, limiting additional work and saving time and money. The foundation to the success of this project was the communication between the stakeholders that was established during the planning and preconstruction phases.
