The primary goal of the UNMC Eppley Cancer Institute renovation project was to replace the deteriorating systems and create state-of-the-art laboratories for scientists to conduct their research. The design and renovation work has been completed in accordance with NIH requirements for Biomedical Laboratories. The project scope includes the removal and new installation of the entire north facade, facade improvements to the other three sides of the building, elevator upgrades, the complete demolition and renovation of all interior spaces and the replacement of existing mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems of the seven story structure.
The facility is located in a very active and dense portion of the campus. We developed creative solutions to challenges and employed innovative staging and phasing strategies to stay on schedule, enhance safety and minimize conflicts.
