The new 13,000 SF Outdoor Adventures Center houses the University of Nebraska – Lincoln’s Outdoor Adventures program; including classes and clinics, rock climbing walls, bicycle tours and repair services, a challenge course, and a variety of outdoor adventure excursions. Support services include locker rooms, day lockers, storage areas for recreational equipment, offices, kitchen prep, classrooms, and laundry facilities. The high-end bike shop includes a maintenance area, racks for rental bikes, and a small store.
Special bouldering and “real rock” climbing areas facilitate a variety of climbing disciplines on walls of 43’ (indoor) and 35’ (outdoor). This facility comprises the most varied climbing terrain in one of the flattest states in the U.S. and coordination with the University-selected climbing wall subcontractor was paramount on this project. The climbing walls are highly specialized structures designed to mimic real-world conditions. Proper erection and anchoring were necessary to ensure the safety and longevity of these structures.
