After about 20 years of brainstorming how best to replace a rapidly aging high school building, voters in Minden, NE approved an approximately $23 million bond issue that cleared the way for Boyd Jones to replace the structure that had stood in place since 1936.
The project solved several safety and security issues that existed at the original building, including one that required high school students to leave the old building and cross the street to attend classes in the middle school. Boyd Jones’ scope of work included the construction of a two-story classroom wing, a theater for performing arts with seating capacity of 500 and adjoining band and vocal rooms, a competition gymnasium with 1,800 seats, and a new industrial technology wing.
In all, the Minden High School project envelops 110,000 SF of additions and renovations; giving students, faculty, and the broader community greatly improved spaces for education and recreation.
