Boyd Jones was chosen as General Contractor for a best value contract by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for the construction of additions and alterations to the 97th Intelligence Squadron Facility. The project includes the construction of a 54,000 SF, two-story, steel-framed building and renovation of portions of an existing 49,000 SF facility. In addition to the typical amenities of an office building, this facility includes enhanced data infrastructure. The pub-style break room provides a comfortable atmosphere for staff members to relax during lunch or after their work day. The project earned a LEED Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
This facility houses approximately 850 Air Force and contractor personnel who provide worldwide airborne reconnaissance, as well as collect and provide intelligence to our national leadership and combat forces. This mission-critical facility includes two stories. The first floor includes an unsecured public area at the front to host un-cleared visitors for meetings, and the remainder of the first floor houses the Command Suite and Administrative groups within the Squadron. The second floor houses the majority of the Squadron’s Operations staff in a secure environment. More than 39,000 SF of raised access flooring was installed that included more than 500 electrical floor boxes that provide electrical power and data cabling through under floor cable tunnels. Communications were provided by fiber optic links to distributed data closets from the main computer room.
