After decades of neglect, the Burlington Mail Terminal was revitalized to become the Rail & Commerce Building. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the building was renovated to provide glimpses of the original 1926 design. The 30-foot ceiling height provided optimal space to insert an additional floor level, creating what is now Commerce Village – a coworking community home to more than 100 individuals.
Due to the phased occupancy strategy, three floors were occupied while construction was being completed, requiring a detailed phasing plan to ensure minimal disruption. The finished space offers a variety of amenities; including an open floor plan to accommodate flexible working space for 50 desks and 13 office suites, kitchen facility, fitness center with showers and locker rooms, game and break rooms, two conference rooms, and a variety of flexible work/play/relax spaces.
