Fort Calhoun Community Schools Hire Construction Manager
The Fort Calhoun school district is currently working with a 60-member facility planning committee made up of district patrons, staff and other community leaders to identify and prioritize the needs of the secondary building. The group will be looking at a wide range of solutions to meeting those needs and bringing a recommendation to the school board on how to meet those needs.
Boyd Jones Construction Company will now be part of that process.
“Their role is to work with the architect along the way to make sure the building we are looking at is going to be very efficient and effective and that we would get our best dollar value,” [Superintendent Don] Johnson said.
Boyd Jones was one of four companies interviewed by the finance committee and the facilities and grounds committee of the school board.
Robert Volz, executive vice president for Boyd Jones, said there are many benefits of having a construction manager as part of the planning process.
“A construction management firm actually participates with you and with the designer during the pre-construction and design phase to try and understand the project and to make sure the cost estimates are there,” he said. “We get to work with you to determine what the facility renovation and addition would cost and be with you during the process of exposing this to the public.”
He told the school board that Boyd Jones “will be a partner with you in making this a successful project.”
