Boyd Jones has worked with the City of Columbus, municipal architect partners, and city patrons since 2016 to explore a variety of solutions for a facility that will support multiple community functions. In November 2020, the community approved a bond issue to construct a mixed-use city hall, library, and children’s museum. The shared facility supports the city’s vision to provide a downtown anchor and enrich community connections.
The space serves as a centerpiece in the community with additional uses including a collaborative teen space, maker space, multipurpose room for events, coffee shop, children’s museum, and other city offices. Located in the heart of downtown Columbus, it represents a much-needed community resource and gathering space where Columbus residents can engage with amenities that foster lifelong learning through a variety of spaces, events, and resources.
