This project involved the transformation of the 130-year-old Omaha Box Company manufacturing plant into a modern industrial headquarters for Ceres, a custom machining fabricator. The original building was completed around 1890, followed by eighteen additions over the next century. The project team was challenged to harmonize a multitude of additions from different eras that utilized a variety of building materials and methods. The completed project created private and collaborative offices as well as a fabrication and installation shop with a rail line for operational testing of custom-fabricated heavy machinery attachments.
Ceres will use the office space for product design and development while relying on the new shop with ample space to fabricate, install, and test attachments. The renovated facility enables safe maneuverability of heavy equipment from the shop floor direct to the rail line for real-world testing of each product. In the new space, Ceres has the ability to continue its growth within a highly competitive industry while streamlining their processes by keeping all facets of production, from design and development to operational testing, under one roof.
