The Omaha City Council worked withBoyd Jones toconvert the 28-acre Miller’s Landing property on the Missouri River from a county-owned parcel into a city park. The project involved extensive earthwork, softscaping, and hardscaping to create a network of multi-use pathways. This system of pathways is anchored by a riverfront overlook, a lagoon, and dispersed interpretive exhibits honoring the historic importance of the area in the context of Lewis & Clark’s 19th-century expeditions of the western U.S.
Our scope of work included all landscaping, roads, parking, trails, and structures within the park. The finished project resulted in a serene setting that engages visitors with the natural environment through extensive walking paths featuring expansive green space, hundreds of trees and plants, multiple pavilions, a concessions building, bike racks, benches, parking, and access to the city’s Riverfront Trail system.
This project was built over a brownfield site that required the installation of a special liner for the lagoon. Existing conditions beneath the site also required special care during excavation to ensure that we excavated only what was necessary for successful completion of the project.
