Boyd Jones to Build Nebraska’s First Utility-Scale Solar-Plus-Storage Project
Boyd Jones is currently providing EPC services across the region. There are two new solar PV projects that are underway this year. With our partners at Burt County Public Power District and Jo-Carroll Energy, we’re proud to be advancing renewable energy and contributing to a more sustainable future. The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) reports that utility-scale solar pipeline is at a record high and we’re excited to have an active role in advancing our partners’ stewardship goals.
Solar development in the U.S. continues to accelerate. SEIA reports that residential solar development had its best-ever quarter in Q3 2019, and the utility-scale solar pipeline is at a record high, too. It’s expected that the total installed PV capacity in this country will more than double over the next five years. Meanwhile, solar-plus-storage is taking hold in Nebraska, where utilities like Burt County Public Power District have committed to pairing solar development with battery storage. This trend is especially promising because broad adoption of solar will lead to broad adoption of storage, which in turn opens up even more opportunities for continued solar development. From SEIA: “According to market research firm HIS, the global energy storage market is growing exponentially… to over 40 gigawatts by 2022—from an initial base of only 0.34 gigawatts installed in 2012 and 2013.
