A post-9/11 surge in federal funding for aging National Guard facilities was the catalyst for the Titan Readiness Center near Mead, Nebraska. The 44,000 SF training space replaced an aging and asbestos-laden facility that was home for almost 60 years to Nebraska National Guard armor and transport units.
The project scope included the construction of an armory, fitness center, kitchen, and library along with training and instruction spaces. With a LEED Gold certification, the new headquarters is among the most sustainable structures in the state, boasting green attributes including water and energy efficiency measures and abundant natural light.
