When the City of Seward decided to invest in renewable energy in partnership with Bluestem Energy Solutions, Boyd Jones was selected as EPC.
Bluestem Energy Solutions is a developer, owner, and operator of renewable energy resources headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska. The company identifies, develops, and implements local energy solutions for utilities across the Midwest, helping communities transition to cleaner, more resilient power generation. Our work together on this project emphasizes the power of innovation and continued collaboration to power communities.
Boyd Jones delivered a 1.7 MW GE turbine connected directly to the City’s distribution system, creating a renewable energy source for the community. The City of Seward retains 95% of the Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) from the facility to supply clean energy to residents, while selling the remaining RECs to help lower customer rates.
Because the turbine is distribution-connected, all electricity generated is being used locally and can power around 600 homes.
