Our company was founded in 1924 in Omaha, Nebraska, by W. Boyd Jones, an experienced contractor who specialized in industrial and commercial construction. Jones’ expertise contributed to the construction of notable projects, including the Adolphus Hotel and the Anheuser-Busch corporate office in Dallas, Texas. W. Boyd Jones was known for his integrity and commitment to customers. He continually looked for ways to drive value, reduce costs, and build better.

1884

W. Boyd Jones was born to Henry and Mary Louis in St. Louis, Missouri.

1912–1917

W. Boyd Jones completed construction of large‑scale landmarks, including the 22‑story Hotel Adolphus and 16‑story Anheuser‑Busch corporate facility in Dallas, Texas.

1917

After numerous successful projects in St. Louis, Missouri, and Dallas, Texas, W. Boyd Jones relocated to Omaha, Nebraska.

W. Boyd Jones Construction was founded in Omaha, Nebraska.

1924

Construction began on the Burlington Mail Terminal, which, a century later, became the Rail & Commerce Building and Boyd Jones’ headquarters.

1935

Sutherland Powerhouse (now North Platte Hydro) was completed. It was Nebraska’s first hydroelectric power facility and the largest electricity-generating plant in the state.

1941

Future President Louis J. Pruch joined the firm as chief estimator and oversaw many of the company’s larger projects.

1942

With the commercial construction industry disrupted during WWII, W. Boyd Jones served as the shipyard superintendent for Omaha Steel Works. He assisted in delivering the Last Lot (5) Vessel constructed under their ship contract in less than half the estimated time and at less than 70% of the estimated cost.

W. Boyd Jones worked out of the West building of what would become the Catalyst building, a community hub completed in 2025 that Boyd Jones helped bring to life through comprehensive renovations and additions.

1959

The company completed construction of the Omaha Community Playhouse.

1984

Future President Roger Crane joined W. Boyd Jones.

1986

Boyd Jones constructed Baxter Chrysler Plymouth Jeep, Performance Auto Group’s original dealership and corporate headquarters. Our longstanding partnership with Baxter Auto Group continues today.

1989

Roger Crane became president of W. Boyd Jones, helping shape the company's future.

1997

Boyd Jones constructed the National Western Historic Trails Center. This was W. Boyd Jones’ first introduction to sustainable construction and laid the groundwork for many future environmentally-minded projects.

2000

To preserve the environment and integrity of Fontenelle Forest, W. Boyd Jones completed construction at the Gilbert and Martha Hitchcock Wetlands Learning Center and the Katherine and Fred Buffet Forest Learning Center.

2001

Jon Crane assumed the role of president, ushering the company into a new era of growth.

2007

The company rebranded as Boyd Jones Construction.

2010

Boyd Jones finished constructing Riverfront Place – Tower II, our first high-rise concrete structure.

2011

Boyd Jones completed our first renewable energy project at Springview Wind Farm. This project established the foundation for Boyd Jones as a leader in the energy industry, with utility-scale projects spanning nationwide.

2017

The comprehensive historic renovation of the Rail & Commerce Building was completed, and Boyd Jones moved our corporate headquarters to the building.

2024

Boyd Jones celebrated 100 years in business.

2025

George Schuler assumed the role of President.
