City of Columbus Community Building

The City of Columbus Community Building brings essential city services into a welcoming, three-story hub of spaces, including the library, city hall, children’s museum, and more. While each facility was previously housed in individual buildings, the Community Building brings them together in a strategic layout under one roof. It’s a functional, purposeful hub designed to prioritize community needs.

This space brings the City’s vision of providing a downtown anchor that’s a centerpiece in the community to life. Additional spaces include an idea box, maker studio, multipurpose room for events, coffee shop, and teaching kitchen.

Located in the heart of downtown Columbus, Nebraska, the new facility offers community resources where residents can gather and engage with amenities that foster lifelong learning through various spaces, events, and resources. Boyd Jones constructed this new building on the site of the former fire station and library, and a new parking lot now occupies the area where the previous city hall stood.

From top to bottom, every aspect of this functional and purposeful space was created with Columbus residents in mind and will serve their needs for generations to come.
