PORTFOLIO

Burt County Solar-Plus-Storage

The Burt County Solar-Plus-Storage Project is Nebraska’s first utility-scale solar-plus-storage installation, featuring a 1.3 MW solar array and a 5,929.6 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS).

Designed to serve residents across five counties, the project harnesses the power of more than 4,800 solar PV modules and two Tesla Megapacks to capture and store clean energy for times of peak demand. By storing excess solar power and releasing it when needed, the system provides the Burt County Public Power District (BCPPD) with a reliable, cost-effective energy source that strengthens grid resiliency and promotes sustainability.

This innovative project was developed through a public-private partnership with Boyd Jones, BCPPD, and Bluestem Energy Solutions.

Bluestem Energy Solutions, headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska, develops, owns, and operates renewable energy projects across the nation. The company partners with local utilities to create cleaner, more resilient energy infrastructure that supports community growth and environmental responsibility. The Burt County Solar-Plus-Storage Project exemplifies Bluestem’s commitment to collaboration and innovation in the transition to a sustainable energy future.

This project received the 2022 President’s Choice: Renewable Energy Projects Award from the National Association of Women in Construction, recognizing its excellence in innovation and construction quality.
