Boyd Jones was chosen to transform the Nebraska State Historical Society Headquarters with renovations and modernizations. With the original facility built in 1953, the space was in need of updating to support the State and serve the community into the future.
The facility was previously added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003, and Boyd Jones ensured interior updates maintained the integrity of the space while delivering full functionality for the modern day.
Located on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s campus, the project replaced the building’s safety, fire suppression, heating, cooling, and ventilation systems while bringing the facility into full compliance with accessibility guidelines. Work included the refurbishment of mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems, and the construction of two exterior stair towers to strengthen fire safety.
Our team also completed a targeted remodel to improve function and efficiency. The transformed space created a safer, more reliable environment for staff, researchers, and the collections preserved for the citizens of Nebraska.
