97th Intelligence Squadron

The US Army Corps of Engineers selected Boyd Jones to deliver additions and renovations to the 97th Intelligence Squadron, a mission-critical facility supporting national military operations. This project included new construction of a 54,000 SF, two-story, steel-framed building and renovations to an existing 49,000 SF facility, seamlessly integrating modern data center systems with mission continuity.

This facility supported approximately 850 Air Force and contractor personnel responsible for global airborne reconnaissance and intelligence analysis. Every detail in construction was driven to uphold mission reliability, data performance, and operational security.

Over 39,000 SF of raised access flooring with more than 500 electrical floor boxes and underfloor cable tunnels delivered redundant power and data connectivity. A distributed network of fiber optic links connected all data closets to the central computer room, ensuring uninterrupted communications and operational resilience.

Beyond its mission-critical systems, the facility included a command suite, administrative offices, and a secure operations floor. A public-facing reception and meeting area allowed controlled access for visitors, while a pub-style break room offered personnel a comfortable space to decompress—an intentional balance between performance and wellbeing.

The project achieved LEED Silver Certification, reinforcing a commitment to sustainability alongside advanced technical capability. It was also recognized with a Merit Award in the US Air Force Design Awards Program and an Honor Award in the Air Combat Command HQ Design Awards Program.
