UNL Hamilton Hall Chemistry Lab

Boyd Jones partnered with the University of Nebraska–Lincoln to renovate the second-floor chemistry lab in Hamilton Hall. 

Featuring new mechanical systems, specialized laboratory equipment, casework, flooring, and finishes, the technical lead environment required precise coordination between building systems, equipment, and casework to ensure each component came together as intended within the renovated space. 

With four of the University’s largest and busiest lecture halls located directly below the project, it created an added layer of complexity and requiring communication with students and staff to minimize disruptions. Boyd Jones carefully sequenced installation and coordinated work across multiple trades while planning noisy demolition and other disruptive activities around the academic schedule. Loud work was completed during early mornings, breaks between day and evening classes, overnight hours, and weekends to maintain progress while minimizing impacts to students and faculty throughout the UNL Hamilton Hall Chemistry Lab Renovation. 

Close coordination among the University, design team, trade partners, and equipment installers kept the highly technical renovation on schedule. By aligning the details behind the walls with the specialized components within the lab and adapting construction activities around the building’s daily operations, we delivered an updated chemistry environment while ensuring learning happening just one floor below could continue uninterrupted.
