Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn (HMS) Community School District selected Boyd Jones for a significant construction and renovation project across the facilities to support the Iowa district’s current and future needs, including a new elementary school.
A new 40,000 SF elementary school replaces a 1930s-era structure that had outlived its useful life and didn’t meet current accessibility requirements. This modern space includes spacious learning commons, adaptable classrooms that meet diverse learning needs, and abundant natural light that fills all learning spaces.
Shared spaces and flexible environments encourage connection and collaboration while empowering the district with long-term adaptability, allowing the building to grow with the community’s evolving needs.
From top to bottom, every element of this space was designed and built to excite and engage students while inspiring a lifelong love of learning.
